This was written years ago for a friend of ours who had bipolar disorder and committed suicide. I gave it to her family and they had it printed on the back of her funeral pamphlet.
Love resides…
Though love be found
but a trace
within a moment’s
fond embrace,
all the more
does surely grow
the love whose
fountain is the soul:
And so I find
that waters within
flow beyond
what might have been,
soothing my wounds
and drowning my cries,
and wash me away
in the pools of her eyes:
And there I’m greeted
by Beauty and Grace
as they cast reflections
of my love’s sweet face;
and each day
Beauty whispers,
and Grace agrees,
“Love resides
in memories.”
