The Mystery, abridged

Both Good and Evil existed in the beginning:

Genesis 1:31a,

31 And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good…

Genesis 2:9,

9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good AND evil.

Genesis 3:1-5,

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden ‘?”

The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’ “

The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!

“For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

The serpent was evil and was created by God, Genesis 3:1.

Isaiah 45:7,

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, AND create evil: I the LORD do all these things (KJV).

So evil existed, but there was no sin until Eve was deceived and ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and gave the fruit to Adam and he ate also. Thus, through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin.

Adam was formed from the dust of the ground as an adult man.

The Scriptures say,  Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not depart from it, Proverbs 22:6.

They also say, Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. Hebrews 5:8

Adam was not trained up in the way he should go, nor did he encounter any suffering through which he could have learned obedience. He was just given a command. Having no experience in learning obedience, he sinned.

For God has shut up all in disobedience that He might show mercy to all, Romans 11:32.
