Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength

Isaiah 40:28-31,

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the   LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.

29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.

30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,

31 Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

My health has been going downward for a couple of years now and ten minutes ago on February 3, 2024, I turned 79 years old, so I don’t expect my health to head back upward. I am resigned to depend even more on the Lord my God for strength and fortitude to keep going. I will not stand on the word of God, nor will I claim it. I’ll leave that to those who think God owes them something. I will, by the grace of God, humbly believe His promises with all my heart and all my soul. He has never failed me. He has always been true to His word. He never changes.

He will most certainly give me strength when I am weary and increase my power when I am weak. I will wait for Him and gain new strength; I will mount up with wings like eagles; I will run and not get tired and I will walk and not become weary.

The Lord told Paul that His grace was sufficient for him, for power is perfected in weakness. And Paul said he would boast about his weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in him.  So rather than whine about old age, I too will wholeheartedly accept my weaknesses. I will treasure them, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light,” Matthew 11:28-30. Amen.
