With all due respect…

With all due respect to anyone who disagrees with what is said in the letter, The Great Commission, the words Great Commission are not in the Bible. There is no such thing as the Great Commission. People have been using something  Jesus told eleven men and calling it the Great Commission as if they were one of the eleven men.

If we were in fact given the commission to share the gospel throughout the world, how could we hold a job and travel the world at the same time? It is for this reason Jesus gave the ministry of evangelism to the church, to spread the gospel. Not all are evangelists. Not all have been called to a ministry.

Consider Paul: Ananias told Paul, “The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear an utterance from His mouth. For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard,” Acts 22:14-15.

Paul was to be a witness to ALL MEN. Thus his letters to the churches remain to this day. In Acts 26:15-18, Jesus said to Paul,

15 “… ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.

16 ‘But arise, and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you;

17 delivering you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,

18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’”

Not all are witnesses of the risen Christ. Very few have seen His resurrected body and heard His voice, therefore, very few are witnesses of His resurrection. People have taken the Scriptures out of context since its beginning. There are so many self-appointed preachers today spreading opinions rather than sound doctrines that it is heartbreaking.
