The Small Things

“He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much,” Luke 16:10.

What seems like a little thing to us is a big thing to God, for He knows that if we are not faithful in the small things, we will not be faithful in the large things. We are what we are, and if we are faithful, we will be faithful in all things. If we are not faithful, we will only pretend to be faithful in large things that call attention to ourselves before people.

I see cars on the streets and highways speeding with Christian stickers on their bumpers and windows. This is one the saddest things I’ve ever seen because they are presenting  Jesus as an arrogant person who is above the law. You can bet your money that people like this will not be faithful in larger things handed to them because their hearts are self-serving and not reverently submitted to God.

No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will hold to one, and despise the other.

If we walk by the Spirit we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. The Holy Spirit won’t allow us to. He will check us and warn us to tread lightly if we are open to Him. If we are not open to the Holy Spirit, we will just continue down the road disgracing the Son of God, and showing the entire creation what little respect we have for Him.

If we would discipline ourselves to adhere to the law for the sake of our conscience and obey it because our Lord tells us to, we will find ourselves to be the apple of His eye and sheltered beneath the shadow of His wings.

If we don’t adhere to the law, we are workers of lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness, 1 John 3:4.
