There is one biblical reason, and one reason only, that Adam and Eve sinned. Anything beyond this reason is pure conjecture and adding to God’s word. That reason is ignorance, not only of good and evil, but of obedience as well.
The word of God says obedience is learned through suffering, Hebrews 5:8, “Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered,”; hence, the disciplining of our children, and the disciplining of God’s children, Hebrews 12:6, “FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”
“This is the difference in the first Adam and the last Adam—- the first Adam was created as an adult and placed in a garden of Paradise, wherein there was no suffering. He had no occasion to learn obedience, and therefore sinned against God.
The last Adam came as an infant into a world of suffering and pain. He was trained up in the way He should go, that when He grew up He wouldn’t depart from it, Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Throughout His entire life on earth He learned obedience from the things which He suffered, Hebrews 5:8, “Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered,”; and therefore obeyed God.
The first Man, Adam, was not taught obedience and fell into transgression. The last Adam, Jesus, was born an infant, disciplined as a child, and learned obedience through the things He suffered. As a result of His obedience, the first creation was reconciled back to God, holy and without blemish.
Then came a brand new creation, the body of the risen Christ, the church, in which all the members are being trained up in the way we should go, and learning obedience through the things we suffer. We endure those sufferings with the help of Jesus, who sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us. Having been tempted in all things just as we are tempted, He is able to come to our aid and show us a way of escape for every temptation; and, learning obedience as we grow, we are able to make a choice to obey; that is, if we abide in Him, in His Spirit which fills the body.
This is Christianity; this is the mystery of God, which is, Christ in us.
