Take every thought captive

The devil is the Christian’s enemy, continually putting stumbling blocks in our path, such as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life, in an effort to entice us to stray from our walk with the Lord.

He is always on the prowl, seeking someone to devour. He lays traps for us by deceitful schemes and unbridled trickery, using whatever resources he can find.

He strikes at every chance he gets, from our taking our eyes off the Lord, to our lack of obedience to the Lord.

He even strikes when we are reading the word of God. If we are not trusting the Lord to reveal His truths to us, but are instead using our own abilities to interpret Scriptures, our minds are actually roaming free. At times like this, the devil has a free pass into our thinking process.

We must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. We must resist speculating, for we are dealing with the word of Almighty God.
