Liars and Illegitimate Children

1 Corinthians 5:9-13,

     9I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. 11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

Here are more:

John 8:44: Jesus identifies the devil as “a liar and the father of lies,” indicating that lying is rooted in evil and is contrary to the character of God.

Ephesians 4:25: Paul exhorts believers, “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” This instruction emphasizes the importance of honesty within the Christian community.

Revelation 21:8: The fate of liars is starkly described: “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Theological Implications:

Lying is not merely a social or moral failing but a spiritual issue that separates individuals from God. Truth is a fundamental attribute of God’s character, and as such, His followers are called to reflect this attribute in their lives. The Bible presents truthfulness as a hallmark of a righteous life and a reflection of one’s relationship with God.

Here are scriptures that counter the claim that all Christians lie and/or steal or sin at sometime or the other:

1 Peter 4:1-6,

1Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousals, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. 4And in all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excess of dissipation, and they malign you; 5but they shall give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

Too many make up things like rebuking and/or binding the devil and they become false truths to thousands of people. But they are wrong. The people who listen to them are led astray and become arrogant and proud. Many of these people work miracles and cast out demons, and when they go to Jesus He tells them to leave for He doesn’t know them. They are lawless people who instead of learning obedience to the Lord, raise themselves up to His level. They claim to have His authority, and all the while they are illegitimate children:

Hebrews 12:8, But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons

Do you really think these people will go to heaven? Claiming to have the authority of Christ Jesus is the most arrogant thing I’ve heard anybody say. When Peter told the man who had been crippled since birth to standup and walk a crowd gathered;

11And while he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called portico of Solomon, full of amazement.“12But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 13“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. 14“But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses. 16“And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all, Acts

Note that Peter said nothing about having the authority of Christ. He testified that the man had been healed on the basis of faith in the name of Jesus.
