Hebrews 12:11 NASB 1977
A FATHER’S DISCIPLINE
All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
1 Peter 4:1, 2 NASB 1977
KEEP FERVENT IN YOUR LOVE
Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
James 3:13-18, NASB 1977
WISDOM FROM ABOVE
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
The verses above kind of shut down the backsliders’ belief they’re righteous because Jesus is righteous. He became unto us righteousness. In other words, He paved the way for us to go if we want to serve Him. He is the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him, Hebrews 5:8, 9.
